Don't suffer through the Hay fever season
Dear ,
Itchy, swollen eyes, an itchy throat and constant sneezing – that’s how some people endure the warm weather and it’s not pleasant.
Hay fever is the common name for a condition called allergic rhinitis, which means an allergy that affects the nose. Hay fever is caused by the nose and/or eyes having contact with environmental allergens, such as pollens, dust mite, moulds and animal hair.
For many people, it’s the pollen in the Spring air that causes them distress.

Help with hay fever during Spring
September is the sneezy season, and many people dread this time of year when they suffer from itchy eyes, irritated throat and lots of sneezing.
A box of tissues is always on hand!
Herbal Teas Australia EYES tea can be helpful for the eyes and sinus irritation. The herb Eyebright is anti-mucous and anti-inflammatory which makes it a great herb for any inflammatory eye condition (including infection and conjunctivitis).
I’ve combined the Eyebright herb with Chamomile and Calendula to make a tea that is both therapeutic and delicious to drink but also can be used as an eye wash. Soaking cotton balls in the cold tea and then lying back and resting the cotton balls on the eyelids helps to reduce inflammation, soothe sore and itchy eyes and help with mucous congestion in the sinuses.
Hay fever can also make the throat itchy and if that is a symptom you suffer from then the COUGH tea can help to sooth the throat mucous membrane. The herbs Thyme, which is antibacterial, and Marshmallow root, which is anti-inflammatory and soothing, are referred to as the singers’ herbs and together with Sage and Chamomile can help with an irritated, itchy and sore throat.
Eliminating wheat and dairy from your diet can help with congestion.
At Herbal Teas Australia, we use certified organic and wildcrafted herbs and there are absolutely no preservatives, flavourings, additives, nuts, gluten or dairy in any of our blends.
